Who is to say that the M3 will have nothing but the same rate of change, i.e., another +20% over the M2. If you accept the view that heat is the primary enemy of any electronic device, then for the same money go for the machine that should have better cooling - the Studio over the Mini. It could be that Microsoft and Apple - both of whom reported Windows OEM and Mac sales down about 20% year/year - ( in their quarters ended March 31, reported last week) are seeing a glut in desk/lap top supply and are not too eager to throw more resources into developing the category when they see more potential in AI for Microsoft and VR and phones for Apple.Īlso, the M2 Mini stepped up version with similar cores and RAM and storage is about the same price as the Studio basic Max. On the other hand, a ~500 dollar or ~25% drop is something that doesn't usually happen with Mac pricing. Plus, for our uses, we really don't need the M1 Ultra or M2 Ultra type horsepower. We've played this game before and waited 6, 9, 12 months before something close to the rumored machine showed up. We may have shot ourselves in the foot because rumor has it that a 'space gray' pro Studio version with an M2 max or ultra or something CPU chip will be out at WWDC in June. Our M1 Mini's with 16GB RAM just seem too slow now that we're spoiled by the Max Studio which we got for about 1700 bucks on an open box deal. We have had an M1 Max Studio for about 8 months now. We ordered one of these on this deal - thanks OP! It should arrive tomorrow. Pros: Good task-bar display of time, easy access to global timesĬons: Overpriced, unsupported, announce feature is more annoyance than convenience.I basically agree, but with the following adds / exceptions. Who wants a robotic voice announcing the time when you can see it perfectly well in this applications task bar display? If you have any support issues, which you will, you will be sol, since their e-mail tech support - one person named amy, apparently - takes weeks to get back to you if she bothers to respond at all.One more thing: the announce feature is actually an annoyance. I say they are disreputable because they have made it impossible to contact someone by phone to hash out problems. They offered me version 10 for $20, but the application is not worth half that. I bought version 9 but could not move it to a new pc because it is no longer available for download - not anywhere. Moreīy Anonymous reviewed on September 8, 2011Īn overpriced, mediocre product from a disreuptable seller.ĭo not buy this product! it is mediocre, overpriced, and the seller is disreputable. the stopwatch and countdown clocks are often useful as well.Ĭons: Too expensive - especially for upgrades. I also like the reminders, much easier than setting up something on my calendar in Outlook. I have the announcement feature running after normal work hours to keep me from getting too absorbed and working through the evening. Love the flexibility of formatting the clock Unlock and Activate & enter the username and serial number. Copied my serial number from the old computer (Help->About Say the Time)ĥ. Copy the registry information (search for saytime) and merged it to the registry on the new computer.ģ. Copy the Say the Time folder from Program Files on the old computer to the new oneĢ. But charging $30 for an upgrade to version 11 is ridiculo us when version 9 does every thing I need.I had the same problem of the new computer and not wanting to pay for version 11 and solved it this way:ġ. I am a developer and I believe in paying for software that I use. Moreīy Anonymous reviewed on January 23, 2012 Pros: Visual interface is simple and easyĬons: Some bugs. Even if they should actually respond to your email plea for help after a month or two, if the fix they suggest doesn't work, you'll wait another month or two, or perhaps even indefinitely, before you hear from them again. However, as a nother reviewer has noted here, you''ll have to pay that amount again and again if you want to Say the Time running, since Provenio does not support previous versions nor make them available for download onto new PCs.In the event that you encounter technical difficulties, including the notorious 'missing stth64.dll driver', you can forget about getting help from the company, since they have made themselves quite impossible to reach by phone (the number they list is a phony) and almost as difficult to contact via email. Nothing wrong with the product, although $30 is a steep price to pay for a task-bar clock. By Anonymous reviewed on November 10, 2013
